Match Analysis

Luis Enrique has led Spain to four wins from his six matches to date and although they missed out on the inaugural UEFA Nations League tournament to England, it’s still reasonably impressive when considering they hammered World Cup finalists Croatia 6-0. They’ve managed to chalk up as many as 17 goals as they’ve been excellent going forwards, with the manager starting to properly implement his more direct style on the squad to good effect. He’s not been afraid to make big calls either and has opted to leave out Real Madrid’s Isco as well as Atletico’s Koke, while Saul Niguez received a late call up following Fabian Ruiz being hit by a fever – though that won’t worry the fans too much with the depth in quality at Enrique’s disposal.

Norway has topped Group C3 in the Nations League with four wins from six matches. However, they managed that with opponents Bulgaria, Slovenia and Cyprus ranked 48th, 87th and 63rd respectively in FIFA’s world rankings, it’s a world away from what they’ll encounter in Valencia on Saturday. It was their defence that proved resolute in those matches, though a serious concern for them will be their lack of output in the final third with just seven goals across all six matches. That makes the win to nil of slight interest but seeing as La Roja have kept just two clean sheets under new management, we’d prefer to back them to outgun their opponents. Indeed, they’ve won seven of their last eight competitive matches in Spain by at least three clear strikes, while the visitors lost 3-0 at home and 6-0 away in Germany during the World Cup qualifiers – with Die Mannschaft the only top side they’ve faced in recent times.
